Our History...

River of Life Church is the result of three different ministries merging together.
In 1981, Faith Covenant Fellowship was established by Pastors George and Linda Brooks in Tampa, Fl. They had served on the staff of a local Tampa church for a number of years and then graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center in Oklahoma prior to moving back to Florida. The church moved from the city limits of Tampa to several different locations in the Lutz area and then changed its name to River of Life Church of Tampa Bay, inc. in 1999. That same year, the current sanctuary facility was built.
In 1995, Pastors Doug and Susan Wingate founded Life Ministries, which included Life Church, and Life Christian University. They are also graduates of Rhema Bible Training Center and have served the Lord in several churches and in various capacities before starting the new work in Tampa.

Pastors Dan and Dianne Coflin had served as associate pastors in a local church for 24 years when they founded Faith Family Church in Clearwater, Fl in 1999. They are both graduates of Word of Faith Bible Institute, as well as several other local Bible Colleges and seminaries.

After an incredible series of events, Faith Family Church merged with River of Life Church in the spring of 2000. Pastors George and Linda Brooks stepped down as senior pastors, with pastors Dan and Dianne Coflin assuming the position of senior pastors of the newly merged church.

Only a few months later there would be another merger of ministries. In August of 2000, Pastors Doug and Susan Wingate merged Life Church with River of Life Church. The result was one united church fellowship and a union between Life Christian University, Inc., and River of Life Church. These two ministries share the buildings and property at the Lutz location with Dr. Doug and Susan Wingate heading one of the fastest growing universities in the nation.

Pastors George and Linda Brooks have since founded a new ministry called Fresh Fire Ministries where they travel and teach at various churches while still serving the church family at River of Life as Pastors Emeritus, and heads of the guest relations ministry.
